The European Digital Innovation Hub "Latvian Digital Accelerator" (EDIC LDA), together with its partners, is launching a new project, "EDIC Latvian Digital Accelerator 2: Focus on AI" (ID No. 101330707, DAOL 2 AI). The project's main goal is to accelerate the digital maturity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and public sector organizations and to boost their competitiveness in Latvia and the European Union, with special attention to the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The new project's activities build on the support and cooperation network created by the previous "Latvian Digital Accelerator" project. In this new project, EDIC LDA will implement an approach in which artificial intelligence is assessed as one of the first solutions organizations should consider when creating new digital products and services. This means not only providing information about AI technologies, but also practical help in assessing an organization's readiness for AI adoption, choosing the most suitable solutions and understanding how to use them safely and responsibly.
Businesses and public sector organizations will have access to the four core service types of European Digital Innovation Hubs: technology consulting, training and skills development, support in attracting funding, and networking and access to innovation ecosystems. Work on service planning is currently under way.
During the project, the role of EDIC LDA as a center of AI competence and practical support will be strengthened. The plan is to support the development of at least 80 new digital products and services, improve AI and digital skills in 370 organizations, and provide support in attracting funding to 285 organizations.
The project is being implemented from August 1, 2026 to July 31, 2029. The planned total project cost is EUR 2,566,995.27, of which European Union funding is EUR 1,283,497.62. The project will be delivered by a broad network of 14 partners: the association "Latvijas Digitālais akselerators", SIA "DATI Group", the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science, the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, SIA "LEITC", the University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, the Valmiera Development Agency, SIA "Elektroniskie sakari", Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Greentech Latvia, the foundation "Ventspils Augsto tehnoloģiju parks", the Artificial Intelligence Association of Latvia and SIA "AI Master Lab".
